How FoodHero is responding to COVID-19

Hey Foodheroes,

We hope you're all staying safe and sane as COVID19 measures continue. 

To our amazing team, community, merchants and their staff: we thank you for all your hard work and everything you're doing to help our planet and people, all the more so right now when we need it most. We are all adapting to the changing landscape and measures are continually being rolled out to meet guidelines as they are established.

During this time, we are doubling our efforts to ensure our FoodHeroes are taken care of and that our merchants are taking the necessary precautions to provide a safe, clean environment for all.

The measures FoodHero and merchants are taking

We understand the concerns our FoodHeroes and employees have during these times of uncertainty. Rest assured, your safety is our top priority. 

Here are some of the most recent measures our team and our partnered merchants are taking:

  • All of our employees are working from home and have suspended travel.

  • We will continue to work (at a distance) with our partners to ensure that FoodHeroes are well supported when placing orders and provide stores and customers with all the support they need.

  • We would also like to acknowledge the extraordinary work of our partners IGA and Metro in supporting customers. They are taking additional sanitation measures and managing in-store foot traffic to minimize risks in the store environment. To stay abreast of all the measures taken by our partners, please consult the CV19 updates from IGA and Metro

  • Our support team remains available Monday through Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. We are now temporarily closed on Sunday following the government’s order. We will be adjusting our schedule as needed to remain available during grocery stores opening hours.

  • You may notice some fluctuations in existing store listings or inventory levels. This is due to the uncertainty of these times and is expected to level out as our partners adjust. We thank you for your patience as they do so.

  • You may notice a reduction in our promotional messaging, contests and activations as we reallocate resources to customer support during the crisis. We will resume our usual pace over time as warranted by the situation.  

  • We will continue to grow and launch in new stores as the situation normalizes.

The future of FoodHero beyond CV19

FoodHero is still operating at full capacity - our app is going strong, our community continues to grow and inventory is added twice daily to the marketplace, as usual. We are, however, currently experiencing a decrease in the number of products added in the FoodHero market due to the COVID-19 situation. 

Our partners IGA and Metro are doing exceptional work to continue providing food to Quebecers during this pandemic, despite facing major supply chain challenges and much greater demand. 

Thank you for continuing to support us by regularly checking the FoodHero app and using our services when you can. We will continue to be there for you during this difficult time and we are committed to offering our FoodHeroes the best app in the market to reduce food waste and save money.
